Mangrove Tree Planting

MISSION: PLANT TREES!! It was still dark when we just arrived at our meeting spot and of course, its at our college. All look energetic at first but was very much dozed-off (pictures as evidence) when we’re up on the bus to our destination; TELUK GONG, Klang.

Our way there with some valuable sleeping pics…

Once we arrived at location we all know by heart that today is gonna be tough but it’s meaningful. With blur looks and some still yawns, we walked in the woods (there aren’t many trees around but still….) and join the already-there organizers and some other volunteers like Eco-warriors and even Starbucks employers. Just as we were about to gather to see the launch and listen to a short speech by the Tan Sri Razali Ismail
, the man pumps-in-the-GREEN$, Mother Nature decides to add a little spice in our task today. Bet you outdoor peeps know what I’m talking about, it rained. Making the soil even softer, harder to walk on and its all muddy, and of course, US BEING ALL WET!!. ALSO!!Left us running and hiding for cover in an empty house for around 20 minutes!!

Hiding away from the rain..

Ignoring the rain, we got a much more important thing to worry about which is
“trees in the future”. So, we commence when the weather gets better and of course when you’re a beginner like many of us, we need help and it appears to be a kind Eco-warrior whom helps us on how to plant the mangrove's PROPERLY.

A small bit of the mangroves that is sponsored by Tan Sri Razali Ismail

MR. Lai Wai Keat from Eco Warrior Malaysia

Basically this is what he taught us (refer to pics pls). I don't have to elaborate I guess. As always, the old school “
GO IN A LINE” thingy was applied when we were going down to plant the mangroves. And while planting, we noticed that we were not the only ones there as there were CRABS as well. Dah la the mud so disgusting, now with the crabs it only gets freakier cause we won’t have a clue if they bit us and all with their camouflage color on mud. NOW when were on mud and all, we decided to have a fest of our own which is MUD WAR!! Throwing mud at each other and enjoying the cold breeze alongside the rain suites the atmosphere and some of us got stuck in the mud as well (as in really stuck and not able to move..No joke).

Dig a hole, fit the plant, press it in and there you go…

Helping out...check out the girl's leg...deep inside...

Muddy peeps...

Our advisor Miss Lim and a helper...wonder if she's helping or it just one for the camera...hmmm...

NOT FORGETTIN!! Our very own advisor throw herself into the muddy field (not literally =.=”) to show her support and will to help save the mother nature where I’m honestly very impressed with her drive and knowledge in this ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION thingy, credit to her *thumbs up*. All in all, we did quite a job in this time around. Planted around 3000 trees and many more to come in the future. Some of you guys out there might think, “what on earth is this guy writing about?!” but I don't blame you dude. You have to “do it, to feel it”, that’s what I'm saying peeps.

The ongoing planting process...

Last thing about us that I feel peeps out there deserves to know......these people are SUPER...I mean ULTRA..or do you need more emphasis?? VERY much loves to take PICS!!! Whenever the cameraman goes “Lai…look here…take picture” everyone goes *turns to the camera direction with a flash and strike a pose like they're born doing it*.

The above said posers...

And one more thing that they are brilliant at it is…*drum rolls*…

Sleep...

So...at the end of the day, I would say that we did a great job and there are more ahead. Well done peeps!!

We are Earth Rangers!!

To end this post, I shall include this...

The planted shall grow big, tall and strong like the origin..

We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.
