Presentation Time!!!

It’s Friday again!!

Each Friday, we will have to attend Event Management tutorial class and present our department progress in front of the whole class! So, let me bring you an in-sight of what our presentation looks like…

First of all…Our Air Team!!!

Have you seen those posters that they holding in hand before?? They visited the NGOs and after much discussion they were able to obtain that information.

Forest team…

What are those sticks for?

Next is our Land team…

Woah!! They prepare a layout for the allocation of their information in the booths and it is begin ‘scan’ through by Ms Lim. What are those pails for?

Deng Deng Deng Deng!!! Our Ocean team…

Wants to know about the cute little flag? Visit our event to find out more. ^^

Coming up is our River team…

What is the use of recycled cooking oil? Make soap?

It sure has many props. But that is not all. You have only seen 10% of their work and effort. There still much to see and much to gain.

Digi Sponsoring??

DiGi Sponsoring?

Bet you wondering about the outcome of the meeting with DiGi.

Here is it…

DiGi is now our printing sponsor whereby DiGi will print all the publicity material such as banner, bunting, poster, teaser advertisement and campaign advertisement. All the printing cost will be sponsored by DiGi!

Look out for our banner, bunting, teaser advertisement and campaign advertisement!!

We are the environment.

First Meeting with Digi

Nervous!!!

This is the type of look you can get from the presenters of the day which are the Director of Advertising and Sponsorship (most nervous individual), Director of Programming (Activities) and Director of Programming (Exhibition).

Today is the day whereby the Director of Advertising and Sponsorship will propose their ideas to DiGi and also to persuade the DiGi personnel to sponsor our event. Can you imagine the pressure when the fate of the whole event is on your shoulder? Many of us have the luxury of not knowing but the Advertising and Sponsorship Department have no choice but to endure it. Give them our fullest support!!

Practicing…

Final preparation…

Before the arrival of Ms Julia, representative from DiGi, the presenters were preparing and practicing for the big moment at V102. The rest of us who are not presenting, help to ease their pressure by creating the environment of the meeting such as arranging furniture and clear up any rubbish on the floor.

Arranging the furniture according to meeting setting…

There is only ONE chance to pitch DiGi.

At approximately 5.15pm, the presentation begins!

It begins with the presentation from Director of Advertising and Sponsorship introducing S.O.S Earth and the benefit DiGi will get by becoming our main sponsor which include logo appearance in our publicity materials, credit-mentioned, Deep Green talk, Deep Green workshop and so on.

Director of Advertising and Sponsorship

Follow up by Director of Programming (Exhibition) presenting about the five main elements in which we focus in our event (Forest, Land and Natural Resources, Ocean, River and Air) as well as the Deep Green exhibition booth in the hall.

Director of Programming (Exhibition)

Then, the Director of Programming (Activities) propose the idea of the launching ceremony whereby DiGi yellow man will walk from DK ABE to College Hall (in case you don’t know, DK ABE is near TARC hostel and is a long route) holding a pot of tree. This symbolizes DiGi is bringing their Green concept into TARC and educating everyone to preserve the environment.

Director of Programming (Activities)

Soon after the presentation was over, the negotiation stage begins (Pressure!).

Ms Julia (middle) express her doubt..

Half way through the meeting, we changed the venue as that classroom will be occupied by other tutorial class. The change of venue seems to lessen up the tense within the room and everyone begin to loosen up a little. Just a little…

We move to the next room which is V103 and guess what? The table setting has change too.

Ms Lim, why so frustrated?

The meeting continues….

We are join by the Creative Agency (AAV2 students) after their class.

Creative Agency shows the TVC (Television Commercial) to the sponsor.

The Creative Agency personnel!!

The TVC managed to grab the attention of Ms Julia and leave a great impression on her. Thumbs up to the Agency!
What would be the outcome of the meeting? Will we succeed in getting DiGi as our main sponsor or the Advertising and Sponsorship has to continue to worry about the money issues?

We make the world we live in and shape our own environment.

A Smiling Visit to P.A.S.S

P.A.S.S. (Pertubuhan Amal Seri Sinar) is a non-profit organization that was formed in the year 2003 with the mission to educate the public on recycling for charity. Thus, this organisation becomes our target for coming GREEN TRIP!! 20th July 2009, 8 members from APR1 gathered at TAR College at 2pm and departed to P.A.S.S. at 3pm.

Before departing...

Why we go there? The main reason is to gain knowledge on recycling matters and also to request for a few materials our upcoming event. So, we planned to pay a visit to P.A.S.S to know more about recycling process and to look for some recycled stuff that can be use during event. Through this visit, we gained valuable knowledge from this huge and systematic recycle centre.

Arrived at the location after an hour of tiring journey…

The entrance for P.A.S.S. really looks like a chalet…Don’t you think so?

While waiting for Dato’ Eadon Ching (founder and president of P.A.S.S), the administration’s staff- Miss Agnes Lee gave us a tour around the centre and share with us about the effort P.A.S.S has made to help protecting the Earth from further destruction.

Miss Agnes Lee (from right) was showing the news clipping of all the activities and donation ceremony that has been done by P.A.S.S. To date, P.A.S.S. have donated approximately RM700,000 to charities to help the community in social welfare, education, medical, youth programs and NGO networking regardless of race and religion. Hats off to P.A.S.S!!

Before we visited the recycling centre, our impression is that the place would be very dirty and full of dust, but we were wrong, totally wrong! This recycling centre is very clean and systematic. Everyday, the recycling centre will send out 20 lorries to Klang Valley, Shah Alam and Subang to collect all the recycling stuff. After that, they will categorize and place it nicely according to the materials. Besides that, they use energy saving cooling system which helps to improve the comfort of crowded, polluted, hot and stuffy space area.

They also have energy saving exhaust system to flush out the hot and pollutted air to keep the air in center fresh!! Cool right?

The Water Curtain is build withing the recycling centre to filter the flow of air, reduce the temperature, refresh the air with aromatic fragrance and enhance good energy.

Miss Agnes Lee giving us a tour around the recycling centre…

Recycle bins are also prepared to let the public to put in their recycle items.

These are all the electronic devices such as televisions, DVD players and monitors in which will be sold to a particular electronic company in which they have contract with.

All of these clothes will be sent to third world countries to help those who are in-need.

Two hours later, we are able to have a short interaction session with Dato’ Eadon Ching, who just came back from his meeting. From the conversation, we found out that the reason he established this centre in the year 2003 is due to the encouragement from his friends. However, his passion and expertise in this field had also contributed to his decision in establishing P.A.S.S.

In beginning, he only has RM30, 000.00 to set up for everything, but now, he is able to do charity and donated at least RM700 000 to the charity homes. Why? “Because there is no problem in everything” quote Dato’ Eadon Ching.

He hopes that public who are interested in recycling will call them for help as their hotline is accessible and they will try to assist them with what they can.

Before we end our conversation, Dato’ Eadon Ching said that he planned to enlarge his business in the future by going into more and more organizations, universities and colleges who wish to go Green. But hey everyone, you can recycle too!! There are recycle bin near your house (as shown in above picture) and you can even call the recycling centre to collect all the recycle stuff from you house! Thus, there is no excuse to say no to recycle!!
