Pre-Event Visit to DBKL

Yeah!! Let’s go to our next destination, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL). The total of five Earth Rangers from Land team went to the DBKL to get an in-sight on how DBKL works and also to get more information about environment.

On the 9th July 2009, five of them gathered at DKABE and begins their journey to DBKL at around 2.30 pm. This time around, they are not going by college bus, or by van, but with their own car. Once they had reached there, Mr. Kuit, the Senior Executive of Operations Department was there to welcome them.

History class has always been the most dreadful class and I bet you have enough of ‘History’ throughout your life as high school students. However, I felt the need to tell you a story about DBKL. Kuala Lumpur City’s management is handled by one corporate sole, since April 1961, initially called Federal Capital Commissioner but was later renamed as Kuala Lumpur Mayor when the city was conferred the City status on 1st February, 1972. DBKL main aim and mission is to plan, develop, administer and manage Kuala Lumpur to be a World Class City. Isn’t that honourable? Give a round of applause to DBKL!!

The meeting with Mr. Kuit started off by him, using point slide show to explain to them about the operation of DBKL. Not only do they need more information about them, but also intended to request for the 3R recycle bin. After several negotiations with the Mr Kuit, they had successfully obtained the recycle bin from DBKL. Many thanks to their assistance in ensuring the success of the event!

Soon after the briefing, Mr. Kuit brought us for a tour to the different department in order to further understand the daily job scope of each department. After the well-informed tour, we were given flyers to distribute it during the event and we were more than delighted to do so after the friendly and informative visit to DBKL!

Have you ever wonder where did your rubbish go after being collected (if you know who are collecting them)? Have it ever cross your mind that without the rubbish collector in DBKL, your housing area will stink to the max as your wastes are not disposed?

Hats off to DBKL!

Let go to the picture section!! See more pictures!
